Data Center Structured Cabling in Central Texas
Comp-Utility designs and installs structured cabling and fiber-optic infrastructure for data centers and commercial facilities across Central Texas. We build copper and fiber backbones to TIA-942 and ANSI/TIA-568 standards, including Cat6A, OM4/OM5 fiber, and MPO/MTP systems. Based in Austin since 1992, we serve the Austin metro and surrounding Central Texas MSAs with certified, documented installations.

What We Provide
Our Capabilities
Structured Cabling Design and Install
Backbone and horizontal cabling planned to TIA-942, then installed, tested, and certified with full documentation and labeling.
Learn moreFiber Optic Infrastructure
Single-mode and multi-mode fiber, pre-terminated MPO/MTP trunks, and high-speed links sized for 10G to 400G data center networks.
Learn moreLow Voltage and AV Cabling
Data, voice, AV, and PoE cabling for offices and connected spaces alongside the data center backbone, under one contract.

Cabling Built to TIA-942 and Certified
A data center is only as reliable as the cabling that ties it together. We design to TIA-942 and ANSI/TIA-568, install with disciplined pathway and containment planning, and certify every link so performance is proven, not assumed.
Every system is labeled and documented so your team can manage moves, adds, and changes long after we leave the site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who installs data center structured cabling in Central Texas?
Comp-Utility designs, installs, tests, and certifies data center structured cabling throughout Central Texas from its Austin headquarters. In business since 1992 and owned by engineers, the company delivers copper and fiber backbones to TIA-942 standards with full documentation. Call (512) 346-0999 or email sales@comp-utility.com for a quote.
What cabling standards do you follow?
We follow ANSI/TIA-568 for commercial cabling and TIA-942 for data center infrastructure, covering backbone and horizontal cabling, pathways, spaces, and redundancy. Following recognized standards ensures interoperability, supportable performance, and a clean upgrade path. We certify installed links against the applicable category or fiber standard and provide the test results.
Do you install both copper and fiber?
Yes. We install copper (Cat6, Cat6A, and higher) for horizontal runs and PoE, and single-mode and multi-mode fiber (OM4/OM5) for backbones and high-speed links. We commonly deploy pre-terminated MPO/MTP fiber trunks to speed installation and reduce field-termination risk in data center environments.
Can you add cabling without disrupting a live data center?
Yes. We plan and phase work to protect live operations, using existing pathways, scheduled windows, and careful labeling so additions do not affect production systems. Our technicians are OSHA-trained and follow your site protocols. We coordinate closely with your team to keep the floor running while we extend or upgrade the cabling.
What areas of Central Texas do you serve for cabling?
We serve the Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown area and surrounding Central Texas MSAs, including Killeen-Temple, Waco, San Marcos, and Bryan-College Station. Our Austin base supports projects across the region, from single server rooms to full data center build-outs.
What speeds can your cabling support?
Cabling can be designed to support 10G, 25G, 40G, 100G, and up to 400G depending on the media and architecture. Cat6A supports 10G over copper, while fiber with MPO/MTP supports the highest speeds across the backbone. We size the design to your current network and your growth plan so the infrastructure does not become the bottleneck.
Do you document and label the cabling system?
Yes. Every installation includes consistent labeling and documentation of cable routes, panels, and link IDs, plus certification test results. Good documentation is essential for fast troubleshooting and for managing moves, adds, and changes. You receive records your team can maintain over the life of the system.
Can you also handle the power and cooling for our data center?
Yes. Comp-Utility is a turnkey, single-contract partner. Beyond cabling we design and install UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, precision cooling, and raised access flooring, and we provide ongoing maintenance. Consolidating the full infrastructure under one Central Texas provider simplifies coordination and accountability.
