Frequently Asked Questions

What is structured cabling and why does it matter?

Structured cabling is a standardized, organized cabling infrastructure that connects equipment across a data center or building, covering backbone and horizontal runs, pathways, and termination points. A well-designed structured cabling system improves reliability, simplifies troubleshooting, and supports faster upgrades. Done to TIA standards, it is the dependable foundation your network and systems rely on.

What cabling standards do you follow?

We follow ANSI/TIA-568 for commercial cabling and TIA-942 for data center infrastructure, covering media, pathways, spaces, and redundancy. Following recognized standards ensures interoperability, supportable performance, and a clean upgrade path. We certify installed copper and fiber links against the applicable category or fiber standard and provide the results.

Do you install both copper and fiber?

Yes. We install copper (Cat6, Cat6A, and higher) for horizontal runs and PoE, and single-mode and multi-mode fiber (OM4/OM5) for backbones and high-speed links. We commonly deploy pre-terminated MPO/MTP fiber trunks to speed installation and reduce field-termination risk in data center environments.

What speeds can structured cabling support?

Depending on media and design, cabling supports 10G, 25G, 40G, 100G, and up to 400G. Cat6A handles 10G over copper, while fiber with MPO/MTP supports the highest backbone speeds. We size the design to your current network and growth plan so the cabling does not become the bottleneck as speeds increase.

Can you install cabling without disrupting operations?

Yes. We plan and phase work to protect live operations, using existing pathways, scheduled windows, and careful labeling. Our technicians are OSHA-trained and follow your site protocols. We coordinate closely with your team so additions and upgrades happen without affecting production systems.

Do you test and certify the cabling after installation?

Yes. Every installation is tested and certified against the applicable standard, with results documented. Certification verifies that links meet performance requirements and supports manufacturer warranties. We also label the system and provide records so your team can troubleshoot and manage changes confidently over the system's life.
