Keeping a Major Broadcaster On Air Through Critical Power Upgrades
Client: A major Central Texas broadcast television station

The Challenge
For a broadcast television station, going dark is the one outcome that cannot happen. This station was running on aging power infrastructure that had been retrofitted many times over the years, leaving its electrical distribution layered, complex, and increasingly risky. Both the UPS and the building's main service entrance were due for replacement, and all of it had to happen without interrupting the broadcast.
Our Solution
Comp-Utility tackled the work in two mission-critical phases. First, we replaced the station's UPS with a new 60 kVA system and, because of the age and many retrofits of the existing distribution, designed a clean, customized electrical layout to give the equipment an ideal operating environment. Later, we replaced the main service-entrance disconnect, transformer, and three automatic transfer switches that had reached the end of their service life. The service-entrance work demanded off-hours scheduling and tight choreography to minimize downtime.
The Result
A broadcaster that stayed on the air through a top-to-bottom modernization of its power backbone, executed by a team that understands what mission-critical truly means.
